When it comes to dependability, durability, and comfort, Japanese automobile brand Toyota tops the list. One of the hallmarks of Toyota vehicles is their longevity, with owners and brand loyalists more than willing to pay a little extra for a car they know is built to last.
Toyota has come a long way since unveiling its prototype – the A1 – in 1935. Over the next few years, the popular brand launched several additional passenger vehicles, including a pickup truck. By the end of the 1940s, the company had already produced over 100,000 vehicles, and it only continued to grow from there.
The first Toyota vehicle ever sold on American shores was the Crown. In fact, this was the first Japanese car ever sold in the United States. Over the coming decades, Toyota has introduced several flagship models, including the ever-popular compact Corolla, the Celica coupe and the 4Runner SUV. Perhaps most notable, however, is the Camry sedan, a vehicle named America’s best-selling car many years over.
Toyota is the first manufacturer in the world to produce more than 10 million vehicles a year, a feat the company has accomplished every year since 2012, which was the same year it produced its 200-millionth vehicle.
