Few brand names have become synonymous with the American auto industry and its long, storied history as the Ford Motor Company. Officially founded in 1903, and headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, the iconic American company still manufactures a broad spectrum of popular and affordable passenger vehicles, including several different models of both cars and trucks. The Ford name is also stamped on several different tractors, automotive parts and accessories as well.
The Ford brand has come a long way since the release of its first vehicle in 1908, the infamous Model T, and the subsequent development of the industry’s first moving assembly line. Their commercial and automobile lines are sold under the Ford name, while their luxury cars are sold under the Lincoln name.
In 2018, the company announced that it would be phasing out all of its passenger cars, with the exception of the Ford Mustang and Ford Focus Active. They did so intending to focus more on their growing line of pickups, SUVs, crossovers and – most recently – electric and smart vehicles.
